A Pennsylvania store was forced to throw out $35,000 worth
of food after a woman in a twisted COVID-19 joke intentionally coughed on it.

Gerrity’s store in County Luzerne revealed the woman had coughed over the fresh produce from the supermarket, as well as a portion of their bakery, meat case, and other grocery stores, meaning staff had no choice but to throw it out and clean the shelves.

The prank comes at a time when shoppers are concerned about the dwindling supermarket stocks as people stock up on food in the midst of the health crisis COVID-19.

Reportedly, the woman entered the store on Wednesday afternoon at about 2.20 p.m before embarking on the apparent prank & on hearing what the woman was doing, the supermarket staff immediately escorted her out of the store and called the police.

The co-owner of the store said he had ‘ no doubt ‘ that the
woman was doing it as a ‘ twisted joke ‘ but still opt to throw out the tainted
food and clean
the shelves over other customers ‘ health concerns.

‘Although there is no doubt that this woman did it as a twisted joke, we’re not, however, going to take any risk with our customers’ safety and well-being. We had no choice but to throw away the entire substance with which she came in touch with.’

‘Working closely with the health inspector in Hannover
Township, we described every area she was in and thoroughly disinfected and cleaned
everything.’ Joe Fasula, the store co-owner explained.

Nevertheless, the unidentified woman is known by police as a chronic problem for the city. On the other hand, the event has since been passed on to the Office of the District Attorney, who intends to file charges against the woman involved. Police will also check her for COVID-19, but Mr. Fasula doesn’t think she’s got the illness.
