Posted to Facebook, the cake
incident has been liked over 4000 likes. ‘When I cut the cake dust came off
it, it’s completely broken apart as if nothing was holding it together, only
icing. I almost gagged when I put it on a plate. You can imagine if this would
be served to party at the party!’ Ms. Hogan wrote.

The color of the mold showed the cake had been abandoned by the store for a very long time.  ‘The worst thing is that Piper and I ate the icing off the cake, unaware of what laid beneath. The following day, she felt ill immediately.’

The
cake store – Michel’s Patisserie has since apologized as well as offered
Ms. Hogan a $50.

‘After an investigation of the incident, we confirmed the
photo uploaded was a one-off isolated occurrence. This particular cake was
delivered by the supplier to the store within 24hours before it was finally
sold out. It was decorated meaning the store owner was unable to see the inside
of the cake.’ The store said in a statement.
