The film ‘Joker’ is officially getting the first giggle on its debut weekend, after scoring an October box-office with $13.3million earned in Thursday Night showings.

With
the figures released on Friday morning by Warner Bros, the film ‘Joker’ dethroned
Venom which held the record for best October opening with $80.3million.

This image released by Warner Bros. shows Joaquin Phoenix in a scene from “Joker,” in theaters on Oct. 4

The robust starts came after weeks of conversation and arguments about the R-rated movie and whether if the movie will not inspire some to commit violence.

Starring
Joaquin
Phoenix as the major character, and Todd Philips as the Director, both have
defended the film, saying they believe the viewers
will spot the difference between right and wrong.

WARNER BROS

On
the other hand, victims of the Aurora, Colorado cinema massacre that occurred in
a 2012 Dark Knight Rises have called on Warner Bros to support the gun control initiatives,
of which the studio revealed it has already does.

Reportedly,
theater in Huntington Beach, California has canceled many of its Thursday
screening after police disclosed they had received a threat. Information
about the threat was however not disclosed.
